‘If you see it for yourself … you believe it’

For a child to be able to hold a real live little fish in his or her hand, look into its eyes, feel the scales, feel it wiggle and see the absolute beauty in nature right up close is not an opportunity a surprising number of youth have ever experienced. Twenty locally connected Wollaston youth aged nine to 12 attended the fourth annual award winning Wollaston Young Stewards Environmental camp this past week, and it was surprising how many had never caught a fish before.

While Hastings Highlands chambers were packed with ratepayers seeking answers, curbside garbage collection failed to appear on the agenda, on Wednesday, July 20.

Annual report by fund committee

Approximately 20 years ago, a committee was struck to raise funds for an X-ray machine in the Bancroft hospital. As the need for new equipment continued, the North Hastings Fund Development Committee, a great group of volunteers, worked and continues to work together to help meet those needs. As a committee of the Belleville General Hospital Foundation, we are allowed access to the invaluable experience and expertise the staff of the foundation has to offer.

Another successful season for the Switch Yard BHHL

SFMH receives Champlain LHIN support

A proposal by St. Francis Memorial Hospital (SFMH) in Barry’s Bay to redevelop its emergency department has been endorsed by the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). With an estimated cost of $8.7 million, the proposal would upgrade and renovate SFMH’s ER space to meet infection control, privacy, occupational health, quality and patient care standards.

AGB to debut exclusive exhibit

The Art Gallery of Bancroft (AGB) is featuring one of the first ever arts shows exclusively for Algonquin artists.

Laughs to come at Playhouse

Matt Baram and Naomi Snieckus will only visit the Playhouse on Aug. 6 due to Baram's busy schedule. They will donate the fee for their show to the Hospice North Hastings.
