Arlington to host ninth Sagittarius Party in Maynooth

The organizers of the Arlington's annual Sagittarius Party would never have believed, in 2007, that they were starting a tradition. They'd be shocked to know that the ninth annual Sagittarius Party would happen Dec. 5.
It all began in Toronto, several years earlier when House of David Gang drummer, Collin Edwards, had a combined birthday party with other Sagittarius friends, including Natalie Robinson.
The House of David Gang is Canada's longest touring reggae band and has a grassroots following coast to coast. The band is “known for their uplifting roots rock reggae sound, which pays homage to the classic '70s and '80s Jamaican sound mixed with a modern rootsy Canadian feel.”
They're invited back to the Arlington, year after year, because they never fail to deliver positive energy and bouncy music.
Robinson moved up to Maynooth and, as her birthday approached, her new boyfriend struggled to figure out a birthday present. “Just throw me a party at the Arlington,” Robinson encouraged. They chose to invite Collin's band so the friends could keep celebrating their birthdays together, despite living four hours apart.
And a tradition was born.
It's always been slightly different but every year it's a large, high-energy party. Members of the band have come and gone. DJs open and close the night and over the years they've covered genres ranging from techno to electro-swing to drum and bass. (Put in requests via the event page on Facebook!) Usually there are fire-spinning performances in the parking lot and this year will be no exception.
Advance tickets will be available for $12 at Harvest Moon and the Maynooth General Store. The doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets on site will be $15.
This birthday party has grown so big that people totally unknown to the organizers have been heard saying that it's one of the best parties of the year. Come see for yourself. Maynooth will be hot, hot, hot on Saturday, Dec. 5. Come sweat and sizzle to the warm Caribbean grooves.
