Bancroft Peewee girls heading to championships

After a 1-1 tie back on March 10, Game two and three of playoff games for The Leveque Brothers/Rock Breaker Bancroft Peewee Girl Jets were played last week in Peterborough and Haliburton arenas.
On Monday night, the girls were at the Kinsman arena ready to get back on the ice after March Break.  The Ice Kats opened up the scoring in the first period, but this lead wouldn't be held on to for long.
Hannah McMann received a precise pass from Peyton Armstrong and let the puck rip past the net minder tying the game at 1-1.
Nearing the end of the second, Sterling Nesbitt picked the puck up from behind her own net, skated end to end, wrapped around the opposing net to find Emma Tidey wide open to put the Jets ahead.
Not wanting to let up the pressure, the last period saw the Jets battle hard for the puck in centre ice and along the boards.
Beth Brownlee sealed the win when she shot hard and scored.  Assists for the goal went to McMann and Ryan Rupnow. A solid 3-1 win.
The following night, the Leveque Brothers/Rock Breaker Jets were on home ice in Haliburton for the last time of their season to host game three. With a championship weekend within their reach, the Bancroft Jets were ready to show fans what they have worked so hard for all season.
Once again, the Ice Kats were on the scoreboard first. Nearing the end of the first period Emma Tidey gave the Jets a tick on the scoreboard after Olivia Villamere battled the Ice Kats forwards, scooped the puck and passed across the crease.
Second period action saw both teams aggressive on the puck, strong offensive and defensive plays, and amazingly strong goaltending from Courtney Semach.
When the whistle was blown for the remaining 12 minutes, the Bancroft Girl Jets were ready to seal the deal with a win.
A combination of Hannah McMann and Beth Brownlee, both assistant captains and leaders on the team, put the second goal on the board beating the goalie in furious fashion.
Emma Neuman was ready to follow up and gave the Leveque Brothers/Rock Breaker Jets the winning goal, assist going to Emma Tidey.
The buzzer then rang with a 3-1 victory.
With the back to back wins, the Bancroft Peewee Girls will now head to a championship weekend in North York, April 1 and 2.
The team would like to thank their sponsor, Leveque Brother/Rock Breakers, their coaches, family, friends and fans for the continuing support throughout regular season, playoffs and play downs.
