Bantam Jets finish in second place

January 5, 2016

The Bierworth Readi-Mix Bantam Jets hosted Tweed Saturday, Jan. 2, for their final regular season home game.
The Jets dominated the game right from the opening puck drop.
Jack Kauffeldt started off the Jets’ scoring with a power play goal, assisted by Jared McCaskie and Brett Cooney.
The Jets followed that up with four more goals in the first, a pair by Riley Krieger, both assisted by McCaskie and Alana Jentas, one by Brett Cooney, assisted by Ben Gaebel and Ethan Woods and the other by Chris Poste, assisted by Jordan Sutherland.
With a 5-0 lead, the Jets continued their scoring spree in the second, with goals by Kauffeldt (assisted by Carter Thrower), Easton Morrison (assisted by Brett Cooney and Gaebel), and an unassisted goal by Brett Cooney, to make it 8-0 heading into the third.
The Jets found themselves shorthanded for most of the third, but with just three seconds left, Brodie Cooney scored a shorthanded goal, unassisted, to make it a final score of 9-0 Jets.
Awesome job by Andrew Miller between the pipes for the shutout.
Sunday, the Jets were in Campbellford for their final regular season game.
An action-packed first period ended in a 1-1 tie, with the Jets goal scored by Brodie Cooney, unassisted.
The Jets took over in the second, adding five more to the scoreboard.
Goals scored by Riley Hunt (assisted by Jentas), a pair by Kauffeldt (the first assisted by Brett Cooney and the second assisted by both the Cooney brothers), and then two more by Brodie Cooney to wrap up his hat trick (one unassisted and the other assisted by McCaskie).
With 1:03 left in the period, Campbellford scored, to make it 6-2 after two.
The third period was intense with both teams getting physical, but other than keeping the refs busy, it didn’t affect the score, as it remained 6-2 for the final score.
Another impressive game in net by Ethan Glecoff for the Jets.
With these two wins, the Jets finished off their regular season with a seven game winning streak, clinching second place in their division.
Way to go Jets!
The Jets now await their playoff schedule.
