Blues comes to the Playhouse with Rick Fines Trio and Roly Platt

Combining roots music, blues, juke joint funk and dockside soul, anyone with at least one musical bone in their body will want to be at the Bancroft Village Playhouse on Saturday, April 16, when the Rick Fines Trio and special guest Roly Platt treat us to some downhome music.
A veteran of the North American blues and folk circuits, Rick Fines engages audiences with captivating songs, diverse guitar styling and his signature vocal growl.  With a slew of nominations and award wins for solo and collaborative work, Fines always brings down the house.
Equally at home alone at the microphone or leading a stage of fellow players, Fines has performed everywhere from the National Gallery and Governor General’s Garden Party to Montreal Jazz, Ottawa BluesFest, the Edmonton Folk Festival, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. International tour highlights include visits to France, Italy, Scotland, Newfoundland, B.C.’s Gulf Islands, and the Northern Arctic.
Fines believes in the transformative power of music.  When not performing, he can be found teaching and sharing with students across Canada – including work with the Blue in the Schools programs in across Canada.  He’s also participated in the Ontario Arts Council’s Artists in Education program. This past week he was part of a slide guitar workshop at Guitar Nuts in Bancroft and he’s caused quite a stir by dropping in to the Place for the Arts for one of their jam nights. 
The Rick Fines Trio with special guest Roly Platt will be at the Bancroft Village Playhouse on Saturday, April 16. Doors at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Tickets are $25 at Harvest Moon, Posies, Hospice North Hastings and online at www.boxofficebancroft.com. All proceeds to the Village Playhouse repair fund.
