To the Editor, Harper has silenced scientists and others who speak up against climate change. He has called environmentalists terrorists.  Now, he is trying to ...

Making a difference with ice cream?

I’m sitting in the cozy patio at the HoP, that’s the short form for Bancroft Community Transit’s (BCT) new sustainable building Heart of the Park which is located in Bancroft’s Riverside Park and right beside the Heritage Museum. There’s a lovely breeze blowing, kids are playing in the park, boats are paddling along the York River and the sun is shining down on this perfect summer day. Another successful season for the Switch Yard BHHL

Come one, come all

Bancroft has a big heart

Bancroft is known for having a big and generous heart and supports many causes in spite of dealing with entrenched poverty in its midst. Every year Bancroft donates significant sums to the Canadian Cancer Society, the local hospital and residents in need due to circumstances such as illness and fire. These are just a few of the things the citizens of Bancroft support.

Heat kills

Where in the North Hastings area can people go when it is too hot to breathe? And is there a way for some of the less mobile folks to get to a cooler/safer venue?

Books for our pride and joy

Pride. We see it showcased joyously in Pride parades in Canadian cities and throughout the world. We also see it targeted horrifically in places like ...
