“The Victorian Order of Nurses has been serving Canadians for 119 years,” said district executive director, Lori Cooper, “and locally we will celebrate our centennial anniversary of delivering home healthcare in 2017.” The Trenton site serves all of Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties and provides a broad spectrum of services for seniors, caregivers and families. In Bancroft, these include caregiver respite, foot care, and in-home nursing.
Provincial governments are responsible for health care in Canada. However, they cannot cover all of the costs required. Here in Ontario, community-based non-profits like VON must also fundraise and charge client fees. The ever-changing landscape of healthcare in this province has led to an increased need. Locally, we must raise $225,000 to support our community-based programs.
The money raised here comes from a variety of sources and is used to provide client subsidies for those unable to pay, to purchase specialized medical equipment, and to provide ongoing training and education to our professional staff and volunteers, to give a few examples.
Please help us reach our goal by making a donation, choosing VON as the memorial beneficiary, or organizing a special event. Our professional fund development staff are available to provide support in these areas and would be happy to meet with you to discuss major giving and planned giving ideas as well.
