Man arrested for attempted murder in Wollaston Twp

During the evening hours Feb. 12, police with the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were contacted by an individual who reported that she had been shot at by her boyfriend earlier in the evening.

An investigation was conducted by officers with the detachment, which resulted in officers attending a residence in Wollaston Township. With the assistance of the Bancroft detachment crime unit and the OPP Tactical Response Unit, police arrested a man at that location.

Charged with attempt murder using firearm, assault, discharging a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of careless use of a firearm, two counts of criminal harassment, two counts of forcible confinement, two counts of pointing a firearm, and two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, is a 35-year-old man from Oshawa.

He was held for bail hearing, set for Feb. 16 in Belleville court.
