Pancakes at annual fly-in breakfast

Bancroft Community Airport manager Pat Murdock gets the Bancroft Flying Club plane ready for the free flights the Club will raffle off at the annual Fly-In Breakfast on July 10.

When members of the Bancroft Flying Club invested in solar panels at the Bancroft Community Airport they had a five-year plan for paying off their debt. Thanks to a great location and lots of sun, investors were re-paid ahead of schedule and the steady revenue stream now provides an opportunity for a staff position at the growing community hub.
Flying Club member Pat Murdock has stepped into the role of airport manager and he’s eagerly working with the rest of the club members to get ready for the annual Fly-In Breakfast event that the club hosts on July 10.
Starting at 8 a.m., pancakes, sausages and all the breakfast fixings will be ready for hungry airport visitors. Guests are invited to explore the airport, visit with pilots, look at planes and Murdock says that a free flight will be raffled off every hour during the event.
Murdock says the airport team wants to start connecting the community with the possibilities offered by this airport. From recreational flying to use by emergency services, the possibilities are plentiful and with a manager, great ideas now have a chance to be developed in a more robust way.
The annual breakfast brings such energy and excitement to the property and Murdock and the airport team plan on using the event to make connections, start some creative conversations and really find out what the community is looking for.
“We want to have everyone fill out a survey while they’re waiting in line for food and then we’ll draw names each hour for a free flight,” Murdock says. “It’s our way of giving back.”
The Fly-In Breakfast runs from 8 am through 1pm. Everyone is welcome to bring their questions, cameras, and enthusiasm. Murdock says it will be a wonderful morning to eat pancakes and think about what’s possible at the Bancroft Community Airport.
