Peewee Jets pull off another win

December 16, 2015

It was a quiet hockey weekend for the Vito’s Pizzeria Peewee Jets with a much-anticipated late Saturday game against the Baltimore Ice Dogs.
It was noticeable as soon as warm-up started that there was a considerable size difference between the two teams! The game started out rough with an early goal scored by the Dogs in the first two minutes, but the Jets weren’t intimidated.
The Bancroft Boys decided with seven minutes on the clock in the period that it was “show time!” Colson Jenkins started the scoring frenzy for the Jets with a poke in the net assisted by Keegan Anderson and Desi Davies.
Four seconds after the face off Keegan Anderson puts us up a goal assisted by Jenkins. Gavin Plunkett put us up on the board again less than a minute later assisted by Cody Switzer and Jonathon Young. With four minutes left on the clock Owen Fergusson flies up the ice, outwits the two big dogs defence and fires on in the net assisted by Cody Switzer.
Fergie went back sat on the bench for a minute, came back out just in time to move up the ice and put in his second of the game assisted by Colson West and Ryker Huygens.
Ryker puts in the final goal for this period assisted by Colson West and Desi Davies, giving us a 5-goal lead going into the second. Ben Landry was a brick wall in net shutting down any additional scoring opportunities from the Dogs.
Baltimore was a firing squad in the second period putting in two back-to-back goals early in the first few minutes, and managed to sneak another past Landry in net. Fergie decided it was “hat trick” time, with nine minutes on the clock; he throws one in the net assisted by Desi Davies.
Keegan Anderson was the next in line putting in a ringer assisted by Fergie, but Baltimore answered right back putting one in our net 20 seconds later and again with a minute left on the board for the period.
Bancroft starts out the last period with a two-goal lead and Phillip Cannon in net. Keegan Anderson puts in the last goal for the Jets in this game assisted by Defence Tanner Potts, putting us ahead by three. The Dogs managed to put in two more goals towards the end of the period but it wasn’t enough resulting in a 9-8 win for the Bancroft Jets.
It is a busy week for the Jets, we are on the road Monday night to Marmora to take on Centre Hastings at 7 p.m., back on the road Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. game vs. Ennismore and touch down on home ice Saturday Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. for a re-match with Ennismore.
