Peewee Jets take charge in their first game of the series

January 13, 2016

Saturday, Jan. 9 the Vito’s Pizzeria Peewee Jets started their first game of this series against the Frontenac Flyers. The Flyers’ goalie didn’t know what hit him in the first minute of the game when Winger Ryker Huygens fired one in the back of the net assisted by a smooth pass up from centre Owen Fergusson. With a minute left on the clock Gavin Plunkett gives us a two-goal lead going into the second assisted by Owen Fergusson. Solid defence from Trevor McDowell, Connor Sobry, Jonathon Young and Tanner Potts shut down any scoring opportunities from the Flyers in this period.
Frontenac stepped it up a bit in the second sending some of the action into the Jets zone but Phillip Cannon pulled out all of this moves shutting down every shot on him. Owen Fergusson saw his chance in the last two minutes rifling one in the top corner of the Frontenac net, assisted by Keegan Anderson, 3-0 for Bancroft going into the last period.
The third period had a lot of action in the Flyers end until the Jets took a penalty allowing Frontenac to sneak one past Phillip in net, but this was obviously too much of a distraction for them. Fast moving defense Trevor McDowell glided up the ice manoeuvred around their five players and put in the last goal of the game unassisted resulting in a final score of 4-1 for the Bancroft Jets.
The second game of this series takes place in Frontenac this Friday at 8:30 p.m., the Jets will bring the third game of the series back to home ice on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 4:45 p.m., please come out and show your support.
