Snowmobile collision sends one to hospital


On Jan. 21 at approximately 11:47 a.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Jordan Bullis responded to a single vehicle snowmobile collision on Dafoe Road, in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. The snowmobile driver, a 60-year-old man from Selwyn Township, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The snowmobile was towed. Police are continuing the investigation.

Police investigate moose collisions
Between Jan. 18 and 23, officers from the Killaloe OPP detachment reported three separate collisions involving moose. The collisions occurred on Hwy 60, in Algonquin Park. All three collisions reported extensive vehicle damages; however, there were no reported injuries, and no charges laid. Police remind motorists to decrease speeds and to be aware of moose and other wildlife as they travel on the roadways.
                                                                                             
Collision leads to charges
On Jan. 22 at approximately  4:39 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constables Yaraskavitch and Lapierre investigated a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Kokomis Inamo, in the Pikwakanagan First Nations.  A 44-year-old Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township man is charged with not turning safely. There were no injuries.

Police lay theft charges in shoplifting case
On Jan. 23 at approximately  8:40 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constables Wierzbicki and Leeworthy attended the Metro Grocery Store, in Madawaska Valley Township regarding a theft. Police were advised by staff that a man had entered the store and concealed various food items in his jacket. Charged with two counts of theft is a 21-year-old man from Madawaska Valley. The accused was released on an appearance notice with a court date.
