We are switching it up this year. We have a new name – The Spring Fling, a new live local band The Road Jammers, but the same delicious homemade dessert buffet, silent auction, raffle items, and door prizes. The goal of the event is to raise awareness of the talent in our communities, to bring people together and of course to raise funds for the students at Maynooth Public School. This year, we are raising money to build a sun shelter that will allow the students to play and learn while protected from the sun. As in the past, the event will be held in the Hastings Highlands Centre gym, which will be transformed into a spring garden. The band plays an eclectic mixture of music, keeping the evening lively and light. The Road Jammers are a group of talented friends, that gather once a week. Travelling from Apsley to Coe Hill, Wilberforce to Birds Creek. Taking turns bringing their energy and favourite songs forward. Entertaining at campfires to winter carnivals, this group will keep your toes tapping. During the concert, wonderful desserts such as cheesecakes, pies and squares will be served. There also will be gluten-free items but we can't guarantee that the desserts will be fat-free! We have been overwhelmed again this year by the donations of original artwork. Local artists such as Valerie Loney, Patrick Kilpatrick, Nancy Brooks, Tracy Hagar and Ketha Newman have donated pieces of their work and more are coming every day. We have a quilt donated by Kim McMunn. Also, for those who may not be looking for a new piece to hang on the wall, we have two tickets to a Peterborough Petes game, gift certificates from local businesses, car detailing kits and many raffle prizes. Check out our Facebook page to see all items that have been donated thus far. Another new addition, an opportunity to dress up and have your picture taken. All tickets will be entered into a draw for a door prize. This is an evening you don't want to miss. Tickets are $15 per person or two for $25 and are available at Harvest Moon, First Impressions, or by contacting the school. This includes your entry to the concert, your desserts, coffee and tea and a chance to bid on the silent auction items. Raffle tickets will be available at an additional cost. The parents, staff and students would like thank all those who have donate to our evening. It takes a village and ours happens to have a great deal of talent!
