New fire training comes to Wollaston

New mounted volunteer group ready to help

A Wollaston Township woman is spearheading a new public service for the province that combines a love of horse trail riding and the desire to give back to your community. Cindy Fuerth, owner and operator of Brookston Horse Park near Coe Hill, has been riding horses since she was a child. She is known for her equine confidence, mountain trail, and horse de-spooking clinics offered all over the province.

Special meeting called for Wollaston council

Disagreement has centered around whether to look at contracting out or other options to get the work done versus hiring a permanent staff person.

Council offered suggestions to change procedures

Wollaston Township council heard a brief delegation by a local citizen at their Aug. 8 regular meeting offering suggestions for changes to their procedural bylaw governing the conduct of their meetings. Roxanne Lambert asked council to consider several changes which would improve transparency, accountability, and increase public input. She suggested not limiting delegations to three per meeting and reducing their speaking time to five minutes plus council’s questions.

New librarian for Coe Hill

After six years of devotion to her “wee little library with a heart,” librarian Bonnie Purdy is leaving her position at the Wollaston Township public library for another adventure.

Bancroft Ridge Golf Course officially opens

A large crowd gathered July 11, on a beautiful summer afternoon to celebrate the official grand opening of the new Bancroft Ridge Golf Club located at 30 Nicklaus Drive off of Chemaushgon Road.

Skills park opening in Coe Hill

A new bicycle skills park is soon opening in the hamlet of Coe Hill beside the municipal pavilion. The primary mover and shaker behind the project is Dave Naulls, an ardent and skilled trail bicycle rider.

New date for reeve’s appeal

Wollaston Township Reeve Graham Blair has been given a new date to have his appeal heard of a recent conviction for impaired driving in Bancroft Court of Justice on March 14.
