It was a hockey filled week for the Bierworth Readi-Mix Bantam Jets. Wednesday night, they were in Napanee. The Jets were down 1-0 and a player after the first, as Jamie Fransky left the game with a broken collarbone. It was still 1-0 after a scoreless second.
Napanee scored again seconds into the third. The Jets answered right back with a goal by Jack Kauffeldt, assisted by Jesse Mountney and Brodie Cooney, but the Jets, obviously rattled by the physical play and loss of their teammate, just didn’t seem to be in the game and Napanee added three more goals to win the game 5-1.
Friday night, they were off to Tweed. The Jets were up 2-1 after the first, with goals by Brodie Cooney (assisted by Ben Gaebel) and Easton Morrison (assisted by Brett Cooney). Bancroft racked up the goals in the second, adding six more. Goals by Brodie Cooney (assisted by Alana Jentas), a pair from Christopher Poste (first assisted by Ethan Woods and Kauffeldt and the second assisted by Brett Cooney and Brandon Hudder), Kauffeldt (unassisted), Jared McCaskie (assisted by Riley Hunt and Riley Krieger), and Hunt (assisted by McCaskie and Krieger).
Tweed scored late in the period and it was 8-2 Jets heading into the third. The Jets shut down Tweed in the third and posted three more goals, scored by:Kauffeldt (unassisted), Poste wrapped up his hat trick (assisted by Brett Cooney and Morrison) and Brett Cooney finished it up (unassisted). Final score 11-2.
Saturday, the Jets hosted the Ennismore Eagles. McCaskie started things for the Jets just under two and a half minutes in, assisted by Hunt and Krieger. Brodie Cooney followed that up with a power play goal, assisted by McCaskie and Kauffeldt.
Leading 2-0 after the first, the Jets poured it on in the second, adding five more goals, scored by Brett Cooney (assisted by McCaskie and Carter Thrower), Krieger (assisted by Hunt and Mountney), two by Brodie Cooney to complete his hat trick (one assisted by Brett Cooney and the other unassisted), and Kauffeldt (assisted by McCaskie and Brodie Cooney).
The Eagles scored with 38 seconds left in the period to make it 7-1 Bancroft after two. Brodie Cooney scored his fourth of the game early in the third, assisted by Kauffeldt. Ennismore answered back with three in a row, but the Jets regrouped and finished it off with two more goals. The first by Woods, assisted by Brett Cooney, and just as he started off the scoring, McCaskie wrapped it up, assisted by Kauffeldt. Final score 10-4 Jets.
Sunday, the Jets finished off their weekend in Brighton. The Jets dominated the game. With goals by Brodie Cooney (unassisted), McCaskie (assisted by Morrison and Kauffeldt) and Hunt (assisted by Krieger and Woods), it was 3-0 after the first. The Jets kept up their scoring spree in the second.
Brodie Cooney scored two in a row to register another hat trick, the first assisted by Kauffeldt and Krieger and the second unassisted. Kauffeldt took advantage of a power play, assisted by McCaskie and Brett Cooney, and then Hunt put one in, assisted by Woods and Krieger, to close out the second 7-0. Brodie Cooney scored early in the third, to make it his second 4 goal game in as many days, assisted by Brett Cooney. Hunt followed that up with his third for a hat trick, assisted by Brett Cooney, and Kauffeldt scored the final goal, assisted by Poste, to make it 10-0 Jets.
The Jets goaltending was superb over the weekend, with both Andrew Miller and Ethan Glecoff earning wins, congratulations to Miller on the shut out.
The Jets next games are Tuesday, Dec. 15 in Apsley at 7 p.m. vs Centre Hastings and Friday night at home against Baltimore at 7.
