Ticket giveaway for Playhouse

July 7, 2016

Shopping locally has even more benefits thanks to a weekly ticket draw for shows at the Bancroft Village Playhouse. Anyone who makes a purchase at Harvest Moon, Zihua, Posies or Critter Comforts and Clips will have the opportunity to toss their name in a red bucket until the end of August and each week one lucky shopper from each store will win two tickets to one of the nine shows that are hitting the Playhouse stage this summer.

Playhouse manager and Hospice North Hastings co-ordinator Heather Brough says a recent study by the Ontario Arts Council on the value of professional theatre in a community show that for every dollar that is spent on a theatre ticket, four more dollars are directly spent in the community. This study was inspiring for the Hospice team that have been operating the theatre for the past year.

“We’re expecting a win-win-win situation with the restoration of the Playhouse, the creation of a revenue stream for Hospice North Hastings and finally – a boost to our local economy,” Brough says. “It’s a big leap of faith to be producing so many shows but we think the benefits are going to make it worth all the effort. Giving away eight tickets each week to lucky shoppers just builds on that excitement.”

The first draw for tickets will happened on July 4 and ticket winners will be called with the details. Draws are done every Monday and the nest lucky winners will win tickets to see Tapestry, the Carole King Songbook on July 13.

Tapestry, the Carole King Songbook recreates the sound and vibe of a 1970s Carole King concert experience following her legendary album, This show is only at the Playhouse for one night.

All proceeds of the shows support the repair and restoration of the Village Playhouse as well as the free programs and services offered by Hospice North Hastings in our community.
