Tudor and Cashel Library’s Lavender Sugar Scrub Workshop, held on July 24 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the township community centre, attracted 23 attendees and overall, they would likely admit it made perfect “scents.” Bonnie Moore, owner/operator at Woodland North 62 Lavender Farm, who taught the course, comments on how she thought it all went.
Moore showed attendees on July 24 how to make lavender based sugar scrubs for exfoliation in cosmetic use, using a lot of good oils that are good for skin and using lavender from her farm. Everyone in attendance seemed to really enjoy it and were having a great time making the sugar scrub, which they were able to take home with them.
Owned and operated by Moore and her husband Derek, Woodland North 62 Lavender Farm is located in Madoc and has offered a chemical free lavender farm and outdoor experience since 2021. They started with three varieties of lavender and are now up to eight varieties. Frances Kitchen was there from local business Kitchens Garden Fresh, and she thought the workshop was super great.
“[It was] informative and fun and I was so happy to be there,” she says.
Moore told Bancroft This Week that she thought the presentation went well and it was well received by the community.
“I would love to host more workshops for profit towards the maintenance of the library. I believe if we all do our part, it benefits smaller communities surrounding larger towns,” she says. “Being from a small town, Norwood, I think we need to make sure we preserve these special places where people can go learn, relax and socialize.”
