Bancroft Jets Girls U-15 hockey team hosted the Ennismore Eagles, Otonabee Wolverines and Ottawa Valley Thunder for a friendly mini tournament on Sunday Sept. 29. Bancroft started the day against a very strong Ennismore team with the Eagles going up quickly by a two goal lead. Gracie Hinze potted the first goal for the Jets assisted by Morgan Walker. Hunter Hudder between the pipes for the Jets made a huge breakaway save with 3:55 left in the first to keep the game within one goal. Ennismore snuck one more by before the period ended regaining their two goal lead at the end of the first. With 1:44 seconds left in the game Lyla Degeer sniped one in on the power play assisted by Clara Degeer. The Jets dropped the first game to Ennismore 5-2.
After a two hour break Bancroft came out firing on all cylinders and gave the crowd an exciting match against the Otonabee Wolverines. With a beautiful cross ice pass Lyla Degeer opened the scoring for Bancroft assisted by Clara Degeer. The Wolverines answered back with one of their own a few minutes later. Walker rushed the puck up the side and got the puck to the net and Lyla Degeer did not miss the opportunity to get the rebound and put the Jets back up. Again the Wolverines were not having any of it and tied the game back up. With time winding down Briar Johnson found the back of the net with a scramble in front of the Wolverines goalie, assisted by Quinn Armstrong and Walker. The Jets won a nail biting game 3-2.
The final game of the day was a match against the very dominating Ottawa Valley Thunder. The Jets were held scoreless in the game but did not give up and kept challenging Ottawa. Hunter turned away several shots and played great in net all day for the Jets.
