You would have thought school was in session at North Hastings High School on Saturday Jan. 31 with the parking lot jammed full of cars. This years annual Walk for Memories held at the by the North Hastings Alzheimer’s Society was bigger and better this year, and raised an impressive $29,300 to further the work of the society in North Hastings.
The Walk for Memories is billed as an opportunity to “take steps to support people living with dementia”, and in addition to building the bank account, raises important awareness and builds community spirit for helping and sharing.
“There was a definite increase in the number of participants this year,” said Hannah Brown, fund development coordinator. She noted that the three walks held in Hastings County this year, including North Hastings, raised a total of $86,400.
